Geneva, Switzerland – The World Health Organization (WHO) has confirmed that cases of mpox Clade 2 have been detected in Côte d’Ivoire, marking the first time this variant has been reported in Africa since the outbreak began in 2022.
The announcement comes as part of WHO’s ongoing efforts to monitor and contain the spread of mpox, a viral illness that can cause a range of symptoms, including fever, rash, and swollen lymph nodes.
