Kampala, Uganda – Eswatini and Uganda have deepened their bilateral relations with the signing of two agreements aimed at boosting agricultural cooperation and establishing a framework for broader collaboration.
The pacts were inked following a high-level meeting between His Majesty King Mswati III and Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni. Eswatini’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Pholile Shakantu, represented the kingdom during the signing ceremony.
The Memorandum of Understanding on Agriculture sets the stage for enhanced economic and technological exchange between the two nations in the agricultural and rural development sectors. The agreement paves the way for a Joint Technical Committee to oversee the implementation of collaborative projects.
Key areas of cooperation under the agricultural agreement include the exchange of agricultural experts, technicians, and researchers. The two countries will also share knowledge and resources to improve animal and plant production, soil fertility, and post-harvest handling.
In a separate development, the Joint Permanent Commission for Cooperation agreement provides a platform for identifying potential areas of collaboration across various sectors, including economics, science, technology, environment, education, and culture.
