Harare, Zimbabwe – Eswatini has been officially removed from the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Organ Troika agenda after a decision made at the 44th Ordinary Summit of SADC Heads of State and Government in Harare, Zimbabwe. The removal came after SADC leaders adopted a recommendation during the summit.
This move follows Eswatini’s request to be taken off the agenda, which was submitted after King Mswati III assured SADC leaders that the issues leading to the June 2021 unrest had been resolved and that stability had returned to the kingdom.
During the summit, King Mswati III also provided updates on the progress of the planned SADC University of Transformation in Eswatini, stating that approximately E3.4 million has been allocated by SADC to support the project.
In addition, the King urged SADC leaders to invest in resilient agricultural practices and to improve regional cooperation in food production to tackle food security challenges in the region.
Meanwhile, Inkhosikati LaMashwama participated in the launch of the Southern Africa First Ladies for Environment Forum in Zimbabwe, hosted by Zimbabwe’s First Lady, Dr. Auxillia Mnangagwa. Inkhosikati LaMashwama recognized the significant role women play in environmental conservation.
