Cairo, Egypt – Egyptian and Equatorial Guinea officials met this week to discuss the implementation of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) signed earlier this year. The talks focused on potential collaboration in key sectors like construction, infrastructure, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals.

Equatorial Guinea’s Vice President, Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, expressed a strong interest in learning from Egypt’s experience in infrastructure development. He specifically mentioned the New Administrative Capital and New Alamain projects as models for potential cooperation.

“We are eager to benefit from Egypt’s expertise in construction and infrastructure,” said Vice President Mangue.

The discussions included technical meetings between the Egyptian ambassador and Equatorial Guinea’s ministers. These meetings aimed to establish concrete plans for project execution in the identified sectors.

The talks follow a message delivered by Vice President Mangue to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in June. The message contained an invitation for President Sisi to visit Equatorial Guinea, which was met with enthusiasm. President El-Sisi also expressed Egypt’s willingness to share its experience in eliminating Hepatitis C.

President El-Sisi highlighted the readiness of Egyptian private companies to invest in Equatorial Guinea’s infrastructure, energy, transport, and healthcare sectors. Additionally, he commended Equatorial Guinea’s support for the Palestinian cause and ongoing efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza.

Both sides exchanged views on regional security and development initiatives across Africa, demonstrating a commitment to strengthening cooperation on multiple fronts.
