South Sudan, Ethiopia Deepen Ties

Juba, South Sudan – South Sudan’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Hon. Amb. Monday Semaya Kumba, met with H.E. Nebil Mahdi Abdullahi, Head of Mission for Ethiopia, on June 12th, 2024 in a move to strengthen relations between the two nations. The meeting focused on collaborative efforts in capacity building, the upcoming border governors’ meeting, and other key bilateral issues.

Deputy Minister Kumba welcomed H.E. Nebil and extended well wishes from himself and Foreign Minister Ramadan to their Ethiopian counterparts. He expressed appreciation for Ethiopia’s support in training 20 South Sudanese diplomats and reiterated South Sudan’s commitment to fostering stronger ties and economic cooperation between the two countries.

H.E. Nebil congratulated Amb. Kumba on his recent appointment and pledged his dedication to further strengthening relations between Ethiopia and South Sudan. He provided an update on the upcoming border governors’ meeting and other areas of mutual interest, underlining the importance of continued collaboration.
