Juba, South Sudan – Despite a history of conflict dominating headlines, South Sudan’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Hon. Amb. Monday Semaya Kumba, reassured visiting UN General Assembly President H.E. Dennis Francis of the government’s dedication to achieving sustainable development during a farewell tour on June 15th, 2024.

The tour offered Mr. Francis a firsthand look at South Sudan’s development efforts. Key locations included government institutions like the Nile Petroleum Corporation (Nilepet), where they met with Managing Director Eng. Bernard Amuor Makeny.

Acknowledging the challenges South Sudan faces, Mr. Francis highlighted the country’s remarkable potential. He stressed the possibility of significant progress, urging the government to prioritize inclusivity in service delivery to address the aspirations of young people.
