Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema will visit the United Kingdom from June 18 to June 21, 2024, to bolster development partnerships and enhance cooperation between the two nations. This visit underscores his administration’s commitment to socio-economic growth and international collaboration.
While in London, President Hichilema will engage in strategic meetings with investors to explore new collaboration opportunities that could drive Zambia’s economic development. These discussions aim to deepen the longstanding partnership between Zambia and the UK.
On June 19, Hichilema will travel to Edinburgh for a bilateral meeting with Scotland’s First Minister, John Swinney. During this visit, he will also receive an Honorary Doctorate from Heriot Watt University, recognizing his significant contributions.
President Hichilema’s schedule includes attending a Meeting of Eminent Persons at Oxford University’s Blavatnik School of Government on June 21. As part of the Rhodes Trust Zambia @60 programme, he will deliver a keynote address and engage with Zambian students. Additionally, he plans to meet with Zambians residing in the UK.
His engagements aim to reinforce international partnerships and advance Zambia’s national interests.
President Hichilema will return to Zambia immediately after his engagements in the UK.
