Windhoek, Namibia – The Russian Embassy in Namibia hosted a grand reception in Windhoek to celebrate Russia Day, the country’s national holiday. The event drew a distinguished crowd, including Namibian government officials, parliamentarians, diplomats, business leaders, and members of the media.
Russia’s Ambassador to Namibia, A. Lobach, addressed the gathering, highlighting the long-standing friendship between the two nations. He emphasized the fruitful cooperation between Russia and Namibia across various sectors and expressed a desire to further strengthen these ties.
The Ambassador also delved into the current geopolitical landscape. He spoke about Russia’s efforts to dismantle the “neocolonial” nature of the current unipolar world order, advocating for a multipolar model with new centers of power in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East.

Ambassador Lobach addressed the ongoing crisis in Ukraine, stating that Russia seeks to prevent conflict escalation while accusing the West of fueling tensions by supplying arms to Ukraine and bolstering its military presence in the region.
Namibia’s Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, P. Mushelenga, also spoke at the event. He recently participated in the 10th session of the Russia-Namibia Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, highlighting its importance as a platform for practical collaboration.
Minister Mushelenga expressed concern about ongoing global conflicts, emphasizing the need for dialogue and adherence to international law in resolving them. He expressed his hope for peaceful resolutions to prevail over confrontation.
The evening featured a vibrant cultural program showcasing Russian folk songs and dances, prepared by the Embassy and Russian residents in Namibia. Guests were also treated to a photo exhibition showcasing Russian-Namibian cooperation, scientific achievements, and breathtaking landscapes of Russia.
