Wellington, New Zealand – Joshua Setipa, Lesotho’s candidate for Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, made a campaign stop in Wellington, New Zealand on Wednesday.
Setipa, a former Trade and Industry Minister for Lesotho, met with representatives from New Zealand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Pacific region officials. Discussions focused on key Commonwealth issues and strategies to strengthen the organization’s agenda.
Lesotho’s Foreign Minister, Lejone Mpotjoane, who accompanied Setipa, highlighted his qualifications on social media. “Presenting Lesotho’s and SADC candidate… a lawyer-diplomat with expertise in international law and multilateral collaboration,” Mpotjoane tweeted.
Setipa also connected with Sir Don McKinnon, a former Commonwealth Secretary-General. “I am grateful for his counsel and wisdom,” Setipa tweeted after the meeting.
Setipa’s visit to New Zealand is part of his ongoing global campaign to secure the Secretary-General position.
