CANBERRA, June 3 – Joshua Setipa, a candidate for the position of Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, visited Canberra, Australia, where he was warmly received by Australian officials. Setipa, accompanied by Hon. Lejone Mpotjoane, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations, met with Pat Conroy MP, Australia’s Minister for Defence Industry and Minister for International Development and the Pacific, as well as Tim Watts MP, Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs.

Setipa discussed his key propositions for the Commonwealth Secretary-General role with the Australian officials. “We engaged with the Australians on the key propositions for my candidature and exchanged views on the priority issues for the incoming Secretary-General,” Setipa stated. The discussions also included bilateral issues with the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Setipa has been actively campaigning for the Secretary-General position, traveling globally to garner support for his candidacy.
