Maseru, Lesotho – The Kingdom of Lesotho and the People’s Republic of Bangladesh are exploring new avenues for cooperation following the presentation of credentials by Bangladeshi High Commissioner Noor-E Helal Saifur Rahman to King Letsie III on May 23rd, 2024.
High Commissioner Rahman is currently stationed in South Africa but co-accredited to Lesotho, while Lesotho’s diplomatic representation in Bangladesh is handled by their High Commission in India.
Despite establishing diplomatic relations in 1983, collaboration between the two nations has been limited. However, both countries expressed enthusiasm for exploring potential areas of mutual benefit.
A shared history as former British colonies and joint memberships in international organizations like the Commonwealth, the United Nations, and the Non-Aligned Movement provide a foundation for this renewed engagement.
