President Bola Ahmed Tinubu played host to President Bassirou Diomaye Faye of Senegal at the Presidential Villa in Abuja in a significant diplomatic exchange.
The encounter, captured in videos shared by presidential aides, showcased the moment President Tinubu welcomed the 44-year-old Senegalese leader, accompanied by key figures including Ministers of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, Budget and Economic Planning Minister Atiku Bagudu, and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
President Faye’s visit holds particular significance as it marks his inaugural trip to Nigeria since assuming office as Senegal’s youngest president in April, making history in his nation’s political landscape. Prior to this visit, Faye embarked on his first foreign engagement as president to Mauritania on April 25th, where he met with President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani in Nouakchott.
The reception at the Villa occurred promptly at 3:09 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2024.
Notably, the announcement of President Faye’s visit to Nigeria was made earlier by Dada Olusegun, Special Assistant to President Tinubu on Social Media.
