Award-winning singer Tiwa Savage takes a leap onto the big screen with her debut film, “Water and Garri,” launching on Prime Video on May 10th, 2024.

The highly-anticipated drama follows Aisha (played by Savage), an ambitious fashion designer who returns to her West African homeland after a decade abroad. Facing complex family dynamics and confronting past struggles, Aisha embarks on a journey of self-discovery and resilience.

Shot in Cape Coast, Ghana, the film boasts stunning visuals and a talented cast alongside Savage, including Mike Afolarin, Andrew Bunting, and Jemima Osunde.

Executive producer Jimi Adesanya stressed the film’s commitment to excellence and its portrayal of West African unity. Savage herself invested heavily in the project, reflecting her dedication.

At a press conference, Savage spoke of her passion for acting and her desire to inspire others to pursue their dreams. “You can do more than one thing and excel at it,” she declared.

The title, “Water and Garri,” reflects life’s complexities, according to Savage. “It’s not black and white,” she explained. “There are ups and downs. The message resonates globally, with African Americans and everyone else.”
