Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Dr. Patrice Motsepe addressed global sports journalists at the AIPS Centenary Congress, commending their role in football development.
Motsepe congratulated AIPS leadership for reaching their 100th anniversary and stressed the importance of media freedom and ethical sports journalism.
“The future of African football hinges on investing in youth,” declared Motsepe. He highlighted CAF’s commitment to fostering young talent through initiatives like the CAF African Schools Football Championship Young Reporter’s Programme.
“We must inspire young Africans to pursue sports journalism and offer them hope,” he continued. “We need the brightest minds to join the field.”
The CAF President expressed gratitude to AIPS and the media for their contribution to the success of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Cote d’Ivoire 2023, labeling it the best in CAF history.
“We’re making progress,” Motsepe affirmed. “CAF is now recognized as a football organization with good governance, ethical practices, and adherence to global standards. The future of African football is undeniably bright.”
