President Bola Tinubu has extended his heartfelt congratulations to the indomitable D’Tigress, who have secured their fourth consecutive FIBA Women’s AfroBasket title, marking a monumental achievement in African basketball history. The triumph of the national women’s basketball team was celebrated upon their return to Abuja after a victorious campaign at the tournament held in Kigali, Rwanda.

Amidst an atmosphere of jubilation, the four-time champions were given a heroic welcome upon their arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. Their homecoming was marked by the presence of officials from the Federal Ministry of Sports and Youth Development, led by the Director of Federation, Elites and Athletes Department, Dr. Simon Ebhojiaye.

In recognition of their remarkable achievement, the team was honored with a light reception later in the evening by the ministry. President Tinubu, showing his unwavering support and appreciation, conveyed a congratulatory message to the team via his official Twitter account.

“I congratulate our very own D’Tigress for a well-deserved fourth consecutive AfroBasket Women Championship. We are proud of you,” President Tinubu’s message read.

Notably, the Nigerian team achieved this triumph in style, extending their unbeaten streak to an impressive 23 games. The victory not only cements their dominance in the FIBA Women’s AfroBasket championship but also solidifies their status as a powerhouse in the world of women’s basketball on the African continent.

The remarkable performance of D’Tigress has ignited a sense of national pride and celebration, showcasing the exceptional talent and dedication of these athletes.
