Ibadan, Oyo State – In a shocking turn of events, a Magistrate Court in Iyaganku, Ibadan, has ordered the remand of popular skit maker Abdullahi Maruff Adisa, also known as Trinity Guy, in prison. The order comes as a result of allegations that Trinity Guy sexually exploited a minor in a viral skit video.

The arrest of Trinity Guy was initiated by the Nigerian Police, following a video of his dangerous pranks that went viral. Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, had called for his immediate arrest. Subsequently, the Oyo State Police Command announced that both Trinity Guy and the parent of the little girl in the viral video were interrogated and were set to appear in court.

During the court proceedings, held before Magistrate Olúdáre Adebayo, counsel to the defendant requested bail for Trinity Guy. However, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp Oluwakemi Arowosaye, presented a grave accusation. She alleged that Trinity Guy, along with two other defendants, conspired to sexually abuse the girl.

According to Arowosaye, the incident occurred on December 17, 2022, in the Kuola area of Ibadan. Trinity Guy, in an act of extreme misconduct, asked the victim about the color of his penis while recording the scene. The skit maker then posted the video on social media, further compounding the offense.

The prosecutor pointed out that the actions of Trinity Guy and his co-defendants violated Section 35 (1) and were punishable under Section 35 (2) of Oyo State Child Right’s Law, 2006. Furthermore, the offenses were in direct contravention of Section 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

Magistrate PO Adetuyibi, however, denied the request for bail by the defense counsel, citing a lack of jurisdiction. She explained that the case had already been filed and duplicated at the Ministry of Justice. The magistrate clarified that she would only be able to proceed with the matter once the Ministry of Justice agreed to withdraw it.

In addition to remanding Trinity Guy, the court also ordered the parents of the minor girl in the video to be held in custody until the next hearing. The Magistrate subsequently adjourned the case until July 11.
