Lagos, Nigeria – The Consulate General of India in Lagos recently participated in a public lecture organized by Lead City University in Ibadan, shedding light on the topic of technology transfer and highlighting the strong bilateral economic relations between India and Nigeria. Chandramouli Kern, the Consul General (CG), served as the Chairman of the event, which featured a guest lecture by Prof. Bola Akinterinwa, former Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA).
One of the key areas discussed during the lecture was the readiness of India and Indian companies for technology transfer, particularly in relation to the indigenously developed 5G technology and the Rupay and UPI payment platforms. CG Kern emphasized India’s commitment to sharing technological advancements with Nigeria and expressed India’s enthusiasm for collaborating in various sectors.

Highlighting India’s expertise, CG Kern elaborated on the significant role played by Engineers India Limited in the conception and design of the Dangote Refinery, a massive industrial project in Nigeria. This partnership showcases India’s capabilities in providing technical know-how and support for large-scale infrastructure development.
The Consul General also applauded the contributions of Indian companies in the pharmaceutical sector, which have not only invested in Nigeria but have also facilitated technology transfer. The collaboration in this field has not only strengthened economic ties but has also promoted the growth and development of the pharmaceutical industry in Nigeria.
During the public lecture, Prof. Bola Akinterinwa shared valuable insights on technology transfer, drawing from his wealth of experience as the former DG of NIIA.
