In a significant development, a total of 511 Boko Haram terrorists and their families have surrendered to the Nigerian Army in the North-East region. The surrender followed a recent offensive conducted by the army, resulting in the successful capture of these individuals.

According to Major General Musa Danmadami, the Director of Defence Media Operations, the surrendered group comprises 99 adult males, 161 adult females, and 251 children. The surrender occurred at various locations within the theatre of operations.

In a statement released on Thursday, Major General Danmadami highlighted the outcomes of the operations conducted by the troops. Along with the surrender, one kidnapped Chibok schoolgirl was rescued. Additionally, 26 Boko Haram terrorists from both Boko Haram and the Islamic State of West Africa Province were neutralized, and 25 individuals involved in terrorist logistics were apprehended. Furthermore, one terrorist’s spy and one Boko Haram terrorist were also arrested.

The surrender of such a significant number of Boko Haram terrorists and their families marks a major blow to the terrorist group’s operations in the region. It demonstrates the success of the Nigerian Army’s efforts to combat insurgency and restore peace in the affected areas.

The Nigerian Army continues to intensify its operations against Boko Haram and affiliated groups, aiming to degrade their capabilities and dismantle their network. The surrender of such a large number of individuals not only weakens the terrorist group but also offers an opportunity for rehabilitation and reintegration into society for those who have renounced violence.

The Nigerian government, in collaboration with security forces, will work diligently to ensure that those who surrendered are properly processed and given the necessary support for their transition to a peaceful and productive life.

The surrender of 511 Boko Haram terrorists and their families signifies a significant step forward in the fight against insurgency in Nigeria. It brings hope for lasting peace and stability in the region, while also reinforcing the commitment of the Nigerian Army to the safety and well-being of its citizens.
