Tragedy strikes the Nigerian film industry once again as Nollywood actor Chikezie Uwazie has been reported dead. The talented actor passed away after undergoing brain surgery in the United States. The news of his demise was announced by his colleague, Obey Etok, who took to her Instagram page on Sunday to share the heartbreaking news.

In a heartfelt post, Etok wrote, “I can’t imagine I’m posting this. Chikezie Uwazie goneeeee. After a 2nd brain surgery. Gini na emezi. I’m so shocked to get this news this evening. Just got this from our IMSU alumni platform.”

She further expressed her disbelief, reminiscing about their conversations and plans for the future. Etok mentioned that Uwazie had previously mentioned going to the United States for better opportunities, but she never had the chance to see him again. Despite her disbelief, she accepted that God knows best and bid farewell to her dear friend, saying, “Rest on Chyko.”

The news of Chikezie Uwazie’s untimely passing comes shortly after the industry mourned the loss of two other acclaimed actors, Murphy Afolabi and Saint Obi. The Nollywood community and fans are grappling with the consecutive losses of these talented individuals, leaving a void that will be hard to fill.
