In recent years, the NBA has seen a significant increase in its global reach, with a larger number of international players hailing from Asia, Europe, and particularly Africa.

To recognize the contributions of African players and the Basketball Africa League, the 2023 All-Star Game Halftime Show showcased three of the most popular Afrobeats/Afropop artists from Africa: Burna Boy, Rema, and Tems.

The Toronto Raptors’ Pascal Siakam, who is originally from Cameroon, introduced the performers.

The show began with Burna Boy, who performed his popular tracks “Anybody” and “It’s Plenty,” followed by a high-energy performance by Rema, who delighted the audience with lively renditions of “Calm Down” and “Holiday.”

Finally, Tems took the stage and closed the show with an electrifying set that included “Crazy Tings,” “Free Mind,” as well as her verses from Wizkid’s “Essence” and Future’s “Wait For U.”

The performers were accompanied by stunning visual effects, a dance troupe that blended traditional and contemporary African dance styles, and a lively band that kept the energy level high.

And just when it seemed that the show was winding down, Burna Boy returned to perform his mega-hit “Last Last.”
