The African Action Congress (AAC) has refuted a viral claim that some of its governorship candidates pledged to undermine the party’s presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, and his running mate, Haruna Garba Magashi, in the upcoming election.
In a joint statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Femi Adeyeye, and the Presidential Campaign Spokesperson, Onyinye-Ghandi Chukwunyere, the AAC described the publications as politically motivated and induced.
The party also clarified that those who spread the fake news had already been expelled from the party for their anti-party activities, including trying to use the party’s name to negotiate personal benefits from other parties.
The AAC urged the general public to beware of these individuals and not have any dealings with them. Additionally, the party assured Nigerians that it would not be used as a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for corrupt negotiations to shortchange the people of Nigeria.
The statement warned that the security and anti-graft agencies had been notified of the illegality these individuals continued to perpetrate as “candidates” of the AAC.
