During a meeting with members of the Imo State Traditional Council in Owerri, President Muhammadu Buhari expressed his commitment to promoting Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The President stated that he had already accompanied Tinubu on visits to several states and was prepared to continue doing so.
Buhari presented Tinubu to the traditional council and local residents, emphasizing the value of a shared national vision that promotes unity and harmony across state and national levels. The President was honoured with a traditional title, “Nwanne D’namba,” meaning “A Brother in Diaspora,” which he thanked the council for and promised to continue demonstrating his love for the South East and its citizens.
Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State commended Buhari’s administration for its historical impact on infrastructure in the state, including road construction, upgrades to higher institutions, and appointments to key positions. He further stated that crude oil theft had been curtailed by the creation of a naval base by President Buhari, and additional security measures had been implemented for the benefit of the people.
The APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Tinubu, expressed gratitude to the Imo Traditional Council for the recognition on Valentine’s Day and presented himself as the most competent and capable person to follow in the President’s footsteps. He emphasized the importance of education and peace in the development of the country.
The Chairman of the Imo State Traditional Council, Eze Imo, thanked President Buhari for his love and commitment to promoting peace and harmony in the country. He also expressed appreciation for the President’s efforts to elevate educational and health infrastructure in the state. Eze Imo noted that the title bestowed on the President reflected a new level of relationship inspired by Buhari’s integrity, magnanimity, and charity.
