The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, will receive massive support from the north in the upcoming election on February 25th, according to the Arewa New Agenda (ANA).
The Convener and Leader of ANA, Senator Ahmad Abubakar MoAllahyidi, spoke to reporters in Abuja about the political landscape leading up to the election. He dismissed the notion that the north would not support Tinubu, despite backing northern candidates in 2015 and 2019.
MoAllahyidi emphasized that the north has always kept its promises and is a strong ally of the APC, just as the South West was for the APC in the last two election cycles.
He cited former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s success with the People’s Democratic Party in the 1999 and 2003 elections as a result of northern support.
The ANA Leader also noted that Tinubu received 1,271 more votes than half of the total votes cast in the convention, with many of these votes coming from the north.
He stated that Tinubu has visited many states in the north, made policy promises, and committed to being accountable to the northerners if elected president.
Based on Tinubu’s past performance and track record, MoAllahyidi explained that the north is comfortable with him and will show overwhelming support in the 2023 presidential election, just as the north has reciprocated Tinubu’s past support for northern presidential candidates.
