At a Labour Party Mega Rally in Abuja on Thursday, the Presidential Candidate of the party, Mr. Peter Obi, and his running mate, Dr. Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, called on Nigerians to hold them accountable for creating the Nigeria they envision.
Mr. Obi emphasized that the party would not provide excuses, but would instead focus on generating employment, improving security, and establishing a better future for Nigeria. He promised to revolutionize governance and run an all-inclusive administration that includes women, youths, and people with disabilities.
According to Mr. Obi, the past 20 years in Nigeria have produced insecurity, poverty, and unemployment, but the Labour Party is offering security and prosperity. He plans to start with an agrarian revolution, which will reduce food prices and curb inflation, before pushing to industry and manufacturing, leading to job creation and export. Mr. Obi also pledged to ensure food surplus, empower women and youths, and unite Nigeria.
Dr. Baba-Ahmed, in his speech, emphasized the importance of citizens taking back their rights and acknowledged the Labour Party’s willingness to help.
He praised Mr. Obi’s record as a governor, stating that for eight years, he did not borrow money and left enough for future generations. The running mate stressed that the security situation in the country had not improved and that Peter Obi would bring unity to Nigeria.
He encouraged citizens to vote for the Labour Party on February 25th for a better future.
The National Chairman of the Labour Party, Julius Abure, commended the residents of the Federal Capital Territory for their support and love. He acknowledged that Nigeria has been mismanaged by bad leaders in the past but assured that the Labour Party would reverse this trend and create a great country.
