Dua Lipa, Roger Federer, Penélope Cruz, and Michaela Coel have been announced as co-chairs for the 2023 Met Gala, joining Vogue magazine’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.
The event, set to take place on May 1st, will coincide with a new exhibition about the life and work of fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, who passed away in 2019. Attendees will be asked to dress in honor of Lagerfeld.
This year will mark one of the few occasions since Wintour took over the event in the mid-1990s where no fashion designers are among the chairs.
The event, which is invite-only and tickets cost over $30,000, is a major source of funding for the Costume Institute.
The exhibition “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” will feature around 150 designs from the designer’s time at Fendi, Chloé, Chanel, Balmain, Patou, and his eponymous label.
