Manchester City defeated Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, closing the gap on Premier League leaders Arsenal to five points. The reigning champions had a difficult first half, but two substitutes, Riyad Mahrez and Jack Grealish, combined to score the game’s only goal in the 63rd minute.
Despite missing key players due to injury, Chelsea played well in the first half and had a chance to score when substitute Carney Chukwuemeka hit the post.
The loss leaves Chelsea in 10th place, 10 points behind the Champions League qualification spots. Manchester City will be happy with the win, even though they were not at their best and top scorer Erling Haaland failed to score.
