Guyanese Foreign Minister Hugh Hilton Todd participated in a special virtual and in-person session of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) Council of Ministers on April 24th and 25th, 2024.
Jamaican Foreign Minister Kamina Johnson Smith presided over the session, acting on behalf of Haiti, which currently holds the Council’s presidency.
Key discussions centered on OACPS funding, member state contributions, and strategic issues. This included preparations for the organization’s 50th anniversary in 2025, the implementation of the Samoa Agreement, and the ongoing political situation in Haiti.

Guyana, a founding member of the OACPS since the Georgetown Agreement of 1975, reaffirmed its commitment to the organization’s long-term vision. They pledged continued participation in shaping the OACPS’s future direction, promoting social and economic development for member states, and fostering strong cooperation with the European Union.
