Nairobi, Kenya – Kenyan Special Envoy for the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR), Charles Keter, met with representatives from the US Embassy today. The focus of the discussion was the escalating humanitarian crisis in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Displacements caused by ongoing fighting in the region necessitate immediate intervention, according to the officials. They explored collaborative efforts between Kenya, the East African region, and the US to restore peace and security in the DRC.
The meeting included Kenyan representatives Amb. Josphat Maikara (Director, East African Affairs & ICGLR) and Raphan Juma and Juma Kenneth from the Peace and Security Directorate. The US Embassy was represented by Tim Trenkle and Patrick Kouchevary.
