His Majesty the King and Prime Minister Rutte extended a gracious welcome to President Bola Tinubu of the Federal Republic of Nigeria during his official visit to the Netherlands on Thursday, April 25.
The visit aims to strengthen the longstanding and positive relations between the Netherlands and Nigeria, focusing on various areas of cooperation including economics, politics, trade, and knowledge sharing in sectors like circular energy, migration, and food security.

Prime Minister Rutte hosted President Tinubu at the Catshuis, where discussions during a working lunch centered on enhancing collaboration between the two nations. Also present were Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Mataima Tuggar and Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs Hanke Bruins Slot.

Later in the afternoon, President Tinubu and Minister Tuggar engaged in a private Business & Investment Forum organized by VNO-NCW in The Hague, further exploring opportunities for economic partnerships.
At Huis ten Bosch Palace, His Majesty the King received President Tinubu in audience, underscoring the significance of the visit. Queen Máxima, known for her advocacy for inclusive finance, discussed progress in financial inclusion in Nigeria, reflecting on her previous visit to the country in 2017 as the United Nations Secretary General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development (UNSGSA).

In the evening, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima hosted a dinner in honor of President Tinubu and his delegation. The gathering included Minister of Economic Affairs and Climate Micky Adriaansens, as well as representatives from Dutch companies and knowledge institutions, fostering further dialogue and partnership opportunities between the two nations.
