Guangzhou, China – Dr. Daniel Mvula Shimunza, the Consul General in Guangzhou, China, recently undertook a familiarization tour to Nanjing. The visit, which took place from April 16th to 21st, was aimed at exploring investment possibilities with a group of Chinese investors with interests in Zambia.
The companies involved in the discussions specialize in agriculture and have expressed their intent to invest in Zambia’s agricultural development. The Zambian Consulate General, committed to advancing the country’s economic transformation agenda, held talks focused on several key areas.
These areas include advancements in agricultural research and development, modernization of farming methods, and the establishment of a joint venture laboratory specializing in agriculture between credible Zambian institutions and Chinese investors. Additionally, discussions revolved around soil remediation, pesticide development, and strategies for improving seed quality and soil management in the face of climate change and pest control challenges.
The visit also emphasized the importance of fostering partnerships between Chinese and Zambian agricultural institutions through reciprocal exchange programs. Technology transfer, scientific advancements in agricultural business development, and the implementation of robust ecological and environmental management systems were also identified as crucial areas for collaboration.
