MBABANE, Eswatini – Over 120 participants gathered at the Methodist Church in Mbabana on December 8th for a dialogue on human rights in Eswatini, marking the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and honoring the legacy of Dr. Joshua Mzizi, a tireless advocate for the cause.
Co-hosted by the U.S. Embassy, CANGO News, and the Swaziland Council of Churches, the annual Dr. Mzizi lecture provided a platform for open discussion on the human rights and governance issues raised at the recent Sibaya, a traditional Swazi public dialogue forum.
“The event touched on many critical concerns,” said a spokesperson for the U.S. Embassy, “motivating participants to redouble their efforts in working with the government to build a more just and open society.”
The U.S. Embassy’s commitment to human rights in Eswatini extends beyond the lecture. They plan to expand opportunities for engagement on promoting and protecting human rights, ensuring equal access to justice under the law for all citizens.
