Finland: Fatter Wallets or Friendly Sponsors for Schengen Visas

Helsinki, Finland – Planning a Finnish getaway? Pack a thicker wallet – starting January 1st, tourists must demonstrate they have at least €50 per day for their stay, a bump from the previous €30. This stricter financial requirement reflects rising living costs in the Nordic nation.

But fear not, budget-conscious travellers! Finland is also opening its doors to financial sponsorships. Under the new rules, Finnish citizens or residents with permits can vouch for your visit by filling out a proof-of-sponsorship form. This means your generous host can help you meet the daily financial requirements, making Finland more accessible for friends and family visits.

“The cost of living has increased in recent years,” explained a Foreign Affairs Expert “Adjusting the financial requirement ensures responsible tourism and helps visitors budget for their stay.”

The new measures align with Article 14.4 of the EU’s Visa Code, allowing Finland to consider sponsorships during visa evaluations. This opens up travel possibilities for those who might not have previously met the financial threshold on their own.

So, whether you’re planning a solo adventure or a sponsored family reunion, remember – pack your euros, consider a friendly sponsorship, and get ready to experience the magic of Finland!
