Mbabane, Eswatini – The U.S. Embassy in Eswatini proudly announced the completion of a project to construct 16 new toilets at Lobamba National Primary School. This initiative, funded by a 159,000 Emalangeni grant from the U.S. Ambassador’s Special Self-Help Fund, demonstrates the Embassy’s unwavering commitment to fostering positive change in the communities it serves.
Prior to the intervention of the Ambassador’s Special Self-Help Program, the 800 students at Lobamba National Primary School endured challenging conditions with dilapidated and condemned sanitation facilities. The newly constructed toilets represent a significant transformation, promoting dignity and improved sanitation within their learning environment.
“We are thrilled to witness the positive impact of this project,” remarked Chargé d’affaires Caitlin Piper. “Our support extends beyond the construction of these facilities. Recognizing the ongoing needs, we have awarded an additional $9,000 to construct a separate block of 16 toilets specifically for girls, ensuring that all students have access to safe and hygienic amenities.”
