His Majesty King Mswati III has challenged business people in Eswatini to fully utilize the opportunities availed by the Eswatini International Trade Fair (EITF) in order to broaden their markets and trading prospects.

The King made the remarks during the official opening of the 55th EITF under the theme “Endless Opportunities.” He also urged businesses to tap into the African market of 1.2 billion consumers.

“The significance of trade fairs is that they provide opportunities for our business community to network as well as establish partnerships and collaborations,” the King said. “From here, they will enter into long-term business deals and contracts through vigorous engagement in business-to-business discussions throughout the course of the show.”

The King also acknowledged the challenges that businesses have faced in recent years, particularly due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, he urged businesses to remain resilient and to seize the opportunities that the EITF presents.

“We recognise that a holistic and inclusive approach is required to stimulate economic growth through business, which generates revenue for the country and creates job opportunities,” the King said. “There is no better opportunity than this one here, where we can make that happen.”

The 55th EITF is being held from July 25 to 30, 2023, at the Eswatini Trade Exhibition Centre in Mbabane. The fair is expected to attract over 300 exhibitors from Eswatini and other countries.

The King’s remarks were welcomed by business leaders, who said that they were committed to working together to boost the country’s economy.

“We are excited about the opportunities that the EITF presents,” said Sibongile Dlamini, the president of the Eswatini Chamber of Commerce and Industry. “We are confident that we can use this platform to grow our businesses and create jobs.”

The EITF is one of the largest trade fairs in Eswatini and is a major showcase for the country’s products and services. The fair is also an important networking event for businesses from Eswatini and other countries.

The King’s challenge to businesses to fully utilize the opportunities availed by the EITF is a timely one. With the right approach, businesses can use the fair to boost their exports, attract new investment, and create jobs.
