A new multi-purpose tennis/volleyball/netball court has opened in Manzini, Eswatini, thanks to funding from the U.S. Ambassador’s Special Self-Help Fund.

The court was opened by Chargé d’Affaires Earl Miller, who said the facility would provide “boundless opportunities for growth and development” for more than 500 children and youth from the Ngculwini community and neighboring schools.

“This is not just a court,” Miller said. “It’s a platform for fostering sportsmanship, teamwork, and a healthy lifestyle for young people and future generations.”

The court was built through a collaboration between the Manzini Athletics Club and the Ngculwini community. The club provided the land and labor, while the U.S. government provided the funding.

“This achievement is a testament to the power of partnership,” Miller said. “Together, we’ve created a state-of-the-art court that will make a huge positive impact on this community.”

The court is expected to be used for a variety of sports, including tennis, volleyball, netball, and badminton. It will also be used for physical education classes and other community events.

“This is a great day for the Ngculwini community,” said club president Sibongile Dlamini. “This court will give our children and youth a place to play and stay active. It will also help to promote sportsmanship and teamwork.”

The opening of the new court was celebrated with a ceremony attended by community members, club members, and government officials. The ceremony included speeches, games, and refreshments.

“This is a wonderful day for the Manzini Athletics Club and the Ngculwini community,” said Miller. “I’m proud to have played a role in making this project a reality.”
