Amity University Dubai partners with Canada’s Seneca Polytechnic

Dubai, UAE: June 12th, 2023 – Amity University Dubai and Seneca Polytechnic, one of Canada’s largest higher education institutions, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore international student and faculty exchange. The signing ceremony took place on June 12th, 2023, at Amity University Dubai’s campus in the UAE.

The MoU aims to facilitate student and faculty exchange programs, foster applied research, promote innovation and entrepreneurship, create corporate and executive training opportunities, and explore possibilities for micro-credentials and pathways to new careers.

This partnership highlights the shared focus of both institutions on practical and creative programs, with an emphasis on employability, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Seneca Polytechnic, with over 90,000 enrolled students and ten campuses in Canada, places a strong emphasis on career preparation and practical experience, aligning with the UAE’s goal to develop the region’s human capital.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Saif Al Seiari, Vice Chancellor of Amity University Dubai, and Professor David Agnew, President of Seneca Polytechnic. The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Fazal Malik, Pro Vice Chancellor of Amity University Dubai, Marianne Morando, Vice President of Academics and Student Affairs, Renata Dinnocenzo, Vice President of Strategy from Seneca Polytechnic, as well as other dignitaries including Ms. Lindsay Margenau, Chargé d’affaires at the Consulate General of Canada in Dubai, and Dr. Nitesh Sughnani, Director of University Ratings, Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA).

Dr. Fazal Malik, Pro Vice Chancellor of Amity University Dubai, expressed the university’s commitment to providing students with rich learning experiences through partnerships with renowned institutions worldwide. He highlighted the collaboration with Seneca Polytechnic as an opportunity to develop competent and highly agile graduates who can seamlessly transition into the job market. The partnership aims to create synergies that benefit students and faculty while promoting innovation and entrepreneurship.

Professor David Agnew, President of Seneca Polytechnic, Canada, expressed excitement about the partnership and looked forward to building a strong and enduring relationship that would benefit students, faculty, and communities. He emphasized the shared global outlook of both institutions, focused on high-quality teaching and learning that provides graduates with excellent opportunities.

These partnership agreements contribute to the UAE’s position as a leading higher education hub in emerging markets. Dubai, in particular, has established itself as a knowledge hub for the GCC, Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia regions. This agreement aligns with the UAE’s National Strategy for Higher Education 2030, which aims to uphold the highest standards of scientific and professional education for the benefit of future generations in the UAE.

Amity University Dubai and Seneca Polytechnic will collaborate to foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship, providing valuable opportunities in the rapidly evolving field of education for students and academic staff seeking international mobility.
