South Africa, Kazakhstan strengthen ties in bilateral consultations

Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Ms. Candith Mashego-Dlamini, co-chaired the 7th Session of Political Consultations with her Kazakhstani counterpart, Mr. Kanant Tumysh, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Africa and Asia. The bilateral meeting aimed to strengthen ties and explore opportunities for cooperation in various sectors.

Accompanied by Ambassador Matthews and Ms. Antoinette Rademan from DIRCO’s Asia & Middle East Branch, Deputy Minister Mashego-Dlamini led the South African delegation during the consultations. The 7th round of Bilateral Consultations provided an opportunity to assess the progress made since the last round and to discuss future avenues of collaboration.

The consultations specifically focused on fostering closer cooperation in areas such as skills development, technological transfers, people-to-people exchanges, science and technology, mining, agriculture, and energy. The aim is to expand economic cooperation between the two countries through increased partnerships and exchanges in these sectors.

Both Deputy Minister Mashego-Dlamini and Deputy Minister Tumysh expressed their commitment to enhancing bilateral relations and exploring avenues for mutual benefit. The discussions centered around identifying concrete steps to strengthen cooperation and achieve tangible outcomes in the identified areas of focus.

The meeting reflected the ongoing efforts of both South Africa and Kazakhstan to deepen their diplomatic ties and expand their collaboration beyond traditional areas. By exploring new avenues of cooperation, such as skills development, technology transfer, and economic sectors, both countries aim to forge a mutually beneficial partnership that will contribute to their respective socio-economic development.
