The purpose of the visit was to engage in a courtesy call and explore potential areas of collaboration between the two nations in the field of agriculture.

During their visit, the Philippines delegation met with various representatives from the management of IITA, including Acting Director-General Hilde Koper-Limbourg and Acting Deputy Director-General for Partnerships for Delivery, Katherine Lopez. The delegation also visited the historic Mapo Hall/Parliament Building and Cocoa House, iconic structures that reflect the rich heritage of the city.
