President Čaputová holds productive talks at Council of Europe summit

Reykjavik, Iceland – Zuzana Čaputová, the President of Slovakia, took to Twitter to share the progress made during the Council of Europe summit in Reykjavik, where she engaged in highly productive discussions on various topics with high-ranking officials from Ukraine, Denmark, Germany, and the European Council.

President Čaputová’s tweet read, “Very useful discussions on bilateral ties but also broader regional issues with Denys Shmyhal, Prime Minister of Ukraine, The Prime Minister’s Office of Denmark, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Bundeskanzler Olaf Scholz, Charles Michel President of the European Council as we gather in Reykjavik for Council Of Europe summit.”

The Council of Europe summit, held annually, brings together leaders from member states to address pressing regional and global challenges, promote dialogue, and enhance cooperation. This year’s gathering, held in the scenic capital of Iceland, focused on strengthening multilateral ties and exploring opportunities for collaboration on critical issues.

President Čaputová’s discussions with Denys Shmyhal, the Prime Minister of Ukraine, highlighted the importance of bilateral relations between Slovakia and Ukraine. Both leaders emphasized the need for continuous dialogue and cooperation to enhance political, economic, and cultural ties between the two nations. They also explored ways to address regional challenges and promote stability in Eastern Europe.

Additionally, President Čaputová engaged in substantive talks with representatives from Denmark, Germany, and the European Council. The discussions centered around broader regional issues, including climate change, security cooperation, and the future of the European Union. The leaders examined ways to enhance collaboration and find common ground on these crucial topics, seeking to strengthen regional stability and foster prosperity.

The Council of Europe summit serves as a platform for leaders to exchange views and work towards shared objectives. President Čaputová’s active participation in these discussions reflects Slovakia’s commitment to multilateralism, regional cooperation, and the pursuit of common goals.
