MOSCOW, May 15. In response to recent statements made by French President Emmanuel Macron suggesting that Russia is becoming dependent on China, the Russian government has vehemently refuted these claims. Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on Monday that such rhetoric demonstrates a complete misunderstanding of the nature of Russian-Chinese relations.
Peskov highlighted that the relationship between Russia and China is characterized by a strategic special partnership, based on mutual respect, benefit, and a shared global outlook. He emphasized their joint stance of zero tolerance for any imposition of diktats or foreign interference in the development of sovereign nations.
“We categorically disagree with such statements because our relationship with the People’s Republic of China exhibits the characteristics of a strategic special partnership, which has nothing to do with any kind of dependence on anyone whomsoever,” Peskov firmly stated.
Regarding Macron’s assertion of Russia’s geopolitical defeat in Ukraine, Peskov labeled it as a misinterpretation of the situation, asserting that the claim is “totally unacceptable.” The Russian government remains committed to fostering strong ties with China based on equality and mutual cooperation.
