Nigeria, The Netherlands strengthen cooperation through bilateral political consultations

The Hon. Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, H.E. Zubairu Dada, officially declared open the Bilateral Political Consultations between Nigeria and The Netherlands on May 3rd, 2023. The meeting, which was held in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, aimed to foster cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

The Bilateral Consultations were led on the Nigerian side by Amb. Samson Itegboje, Director IOD/DOOPS, MFA, while the Dutch delegation was headed by Ms. Erica Schouten, Deputy Director-General, Political Affairs, MFA of The Netherlands. The meeting discussed various topics of mutual interest, including the economy, security, consular, and migration matters.

Bilateral Political Consultations between Nigeria and The Netherlands were held in the Ministry on 3rd May 2023.

The MoU establishing the framework for the Consultations emphasized the need to strengthen cooperation between Nigeria and The Netherlands. The framework would enable the two countries to collaborate and identify areas of mutual interest for joint projects and programs. The discussions focused on ways to leverage the strengths of both countries to achieve their goals and objectives.

During the meeting, H.E. Zubairu Dada expressed his pleasure at the initiative and noted the significant role that cooperation between Nigeria and The Netherlands could play in fostering economic growth and development. He highlighted the need for a more robust partnership between the two countries, particularly in the areas of trade, investment, and infrastructure.

Ms. Erica Schouten, in her remarks, emphasized the importance of strengthening political and economic ties between the two countries. She commended Nigeria for its resilience and progress in various areas, despite the challenges it faced.

The Bilateral Political Consultations between Nigeria and The Netherlands provided a platform for the two countries to strengthen cooperation and deepen their relationship. The MoU signed at the meeting would provide a framework for future discussions and collaborations in critical areas of mutual interest.
