The Philippines Ambassador to Seychelles and the Canadian High Commissioner both presented their credentials to Seychelles’ President Wavel Ramkalawan at State House on Tuesday, and subsequently spoke to the press about their priorities.
Marie Tang, the Philippines ambassador, expressed her desire to strengthen people-to-people relations, economics, and multilateral cooperation between the two countries, with a particular focus on climate change, the environment, and consular services. She also discussed re-initiating certain agreements that were put on hold due to the pandemic.
Meanwhile, Kyle Nunas, the Canadian high commissioner, emphasized his interest in expanding two-way trade and investment between the countries, and highlighted Canada’s strengths in areas such as information and communication technology and clean technologies. Additionally, he discussed Canada’s involvement in a US-led military exercise aimed at building maritime security capacity.
Tang will be based in Nairobi, Kenya, and Nunas in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
