Conakry, Guinea – The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the Republic of Guinea officially launched a National Coordination Centre for Early Warning and Response to Security Risks on Wednesday, November 20th, 2024.
The launch ceremony, held in Conakry, was attended by high-level officials from both organizations, including ECOWAS Vice President Damtien Tchintchibidja and Guinean Prime Minister Mamadou Oury Bah.

The new center is designed to enhance Guinea’s capacity to detect, analyze, and prevent security threats. It is part of ECOWAS’ broader regional early warning mechanism and aligns with Guinea’s commitment to a regional approach to security and resilience.
“This Centre is more than just an infrastructure; it symbolizes our collective commitment to a safer and more prosperous future,” said Tchintchibidja.
The inaugural statutory meeting of the center was also held, providing an opportunity to discuss its operational procedures and its role within the regional early warning system.
ECOWAS has pledged to continue supporting Guinea in strengthening its early warning and response capabilities.
