Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire – November 11, 2024: A workshop on the Spatial Development Initiative (SDI) study for the Abidjan-Lagos Corridor Highway has identified $6.8 billion in investment-ready projects aimed at driving economic growth and strengthening regional integration.
The three-day event brought together ECOWAS technical experts, engineers, development partners, and representatives from corridor member states. Participants reviewed the final draft of the SDI study, which focuses on unlocking economic opportunities along the corridor through strategic infrastructure and industrial projects.

Conducted by a consortium including CPCS, Holland & Hausberge, and Comete, the study examined a 200-kilometer catchment area, identifying initiatives categorized into economic anchor projects, strategic infrastructure, and economic densification projects. These projects target high-opportunity sectors such as energy, automotive manufacturing, agriculture, fisheries, and tourism.
Notable initiatives highlighted include the Remo Economic Industrial Cluster in Nigeria, the Glo-Djigbé Industrial Zone in Benin, the Adétikopé Industrial Cluster in Togo, the Greater Kumasi Industrial City in Ghana, and the PK 24 Industrial Hub in Côte d’Ivoire.
The study identified 206 projects, with 27 deemed investment-ready, valued at $6.8 billion. Projects were selected based on their potential to enhance regional integration, financial viability, social impact, and alignment with national development plans.
Participants also visited tolled bridges and highways in Abidjan to gather insights for implementing a tolling strategy along the corridor.
