RABAT, Morocco – The Moroccan Ministry of Health announced on Thursday that the country has recorded its first case of mpox in a male resident of Marrakech.

This confirmation comes amid the global health emergency declared by the World Health Organization (WHO) following the identification of a new variant of the virus.

The ministry did not provide further details about the specific variant involved or the patient’s current condition. However, they did state that the individual is stable and that their contacts have shown no symptoms.
