Paris, France – Zambia’s Minister of Youth, Sport and Arts, Elvis Nkandu, has expressed unwavering confidence in the country’s Olympic team ahead of the Paris 2024 Games.

Arriving in the French capital on Wednesday, Nkandu declared his belief that Zambia’s athletes, particularly the Copper Queens women’s football team, are primed for victory. He highlighted the team’s potential to clinch Zambia’s first-ever Olympic gold medal.

“The Copper Queens and all our athletes have earned their place at these Games through hard work and dedication,” Nkandu said. “We are excited to be representing Africa on this global stage.”

The Minister acknowledged the challenges the team, especially the Copper Queens, faced to qualify for the Olympics, emphasizing their historic achievement as one of only two African nations to secure a spot.

With 32 athletes competing across five sports, Zambia aims to surpass its previous Olympic performance. Nkandu is determined to shift the narrative and prove that Africa can excel at the highest levels of international sports.
