Guangzhou, China – Dr. Daniel Mvula Shimunza, Zambia’s Consul General in Guangzhou, met with Ms. LIU CHENZI, Director General of Guangdong Province in a move to strengthen relations and address pressing issues

The meeting focused on deepening bilateral ties between Zambia and China, with particular emphasis on attracting investments in critical sectors like energy and agriculture. These investments are seen as a crucial step towards mitigating Zambia’s energy crisis and the challenges posed by climate change.

This initiative follows President Hakainde Hichilema’s call for measures to boost Zambia’s economy. It also builds upon the positive outcomes of the recent Presidential visit to China, where President Hichilema and his counterpart, President Xi Jinping, signed a number of Memoranda of Understanding. The specific solutions discussed during the meeting remain undisclosed, but both parties are committed to finding solutions in line with the aforementioned agreements.
