London, UK – June 25, 2024 – Prominent figures from Ghana and the United Kingdom convened at the Landmark Hotel in London on June 24th for the UK-Ghana Business Forum. This gathering served as a platform to strengthen economic ties and explore potential avenues for growth.
Ghana’s High Commissioner to the UK, H.E. Papa Owusu Ankomah, delivered a keynote address highlighting a significant trend: the UK’s growing investment in Ghana’s manufacturing sector. Data from 1994 to 2023 reveals manufacturing as the top recipient of UK investment, signifying a clear British interest in bolstering Ghana’s production capabilities.
The forum also featured a panel discussion focused on Ghana’s manufacturing sector. Yofi Grant, CEO of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre’s (GIPC), emphasized the importance of skilled labor and value addition for a thriving manufacturing industry. He acknowledged government initiatives like prioritizing technical education, the One-District-One-Factory program, and Planting for Food & Jobs, all aimed at supporting this vision. Mr. Grant further elaborated on the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre’s (GIPC) investment focus areas and the vast opportunities Ghana presents for entrepreneurs from the diaspora. Joining him on the panel were Samuel Dubik Mahama, Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana, and Valerie Labi, co-founder and CEO of Wahu Mobility.

The forum boasted a distinguished list of speakers, including Ghana’s Finance Minister, Hon. Mohammed Amin Adam; Mr. Alex Dadey, Board Chair of GIPC and Executive Chairman of KGL Group; and representatives from the Ghana Free Zones Authority, Development Bank Ghana, and the UK-Ghana Chamber of Commerce.
