Akufo-Addo Commissions Nine New Envoys

ACCRA, June 25 – President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of Ghana commissioned nine new envoys on Monday, assigning them as Ambassadors and High Commissioners to various countries, aiming to bolster diplomatic ties and attract investments.

The appointed envoys include Major-General Rtd. Nicholas Peter Andoh to Türkiye, Vice Admiral Seth Amoama to Nigeria, Mrs. Francisca Ashietey-Odunton to South Africa, Mr. Henry Tachie-Menson to Belgium, Mrs. Charity Gbedawo to Morocco, Ms. Abigail Naa Adzoko Kwashi to Norway, Dr. Robert Afriyie to Ethiopia, Mr. Ernest Yaw Amporful to Rwanda, and Mr. Nana Bediatuo Asante as Ambassador-at-Large.

President Akufo-Addo tasked the new envoys with strengthening relations with their host countries, promoting Ghana’s image, and attracting investments. He also highlighted the need for global cooperation to address violent extremism, armed conflicts, terrorism, and climate change.

Mr. Henry Tachie-Menson, speaking on behalf of the envoys, pledged their dedication to advancing Ghana’s interests and international standing, emphasizing the importance of building enduring relationships with host countries and multilateral institutions to tackle common global challenges.

The ceremony was attended by Chief of Staff Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, Foreign Affairs Minister Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Mavis Nkansah-Boadu, Chief Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Amb. Ramses Joseph Cleland, other ministry officials, clergy, and the families and friends of the new envoys.
