Johannesburg, South Africa – President Joe Biden extended his congratulations to Cyril Ramaphosa on his successful re-election as president of South Africa. In a statement released by the White House, Biden also praised the collaborative spirit displayed by South Africa’s political parties in forming a Government of National Unity.

The congratulatory message comes as South Africa celebrates a significant milestone: 30 years since the nation achieved universal suffrage. Biden lauded the country for its enduring commitment to democratic principles, highlighting the recent elections as a powerful testament to a government built “of the people, by the people, and for the people.”
